So…
There has been a cloudiness surrounding ASMR nowadays. I don’t know much about ASMR in general, but, when it comes to Food ASMR, I know my stuff, mind ya. And yeah, I like Food ASMR, okay!
So, to me, ASMR in general can be divided into two types: Naturally happening/occurring ASMR, and Manmade ASMR (made and categorised separately by humans).
Natural ASMR are the sounds and clips which are usually heard or can be found in nature. They could be manmade as well as natural now but their origins are purely natural.
On the other hand, Manmade ASMR include categories that are made and categorised by mankind.
Personally, I think the strange categories of ASMR are usually the Manmade ones. Probably because they can be weird in many different ways. I also have watched TheOdd1sOut’s video on His thoughts on ASMR- so my opinion is largely based off of that and the Wikipedia Page of ASMR.
But anyways, back to the main point of Food ASMR, I LOVE IT!!!! (Except for the eating sounds haha)
My reasons to defend myself from criticism:
I don’t see anything sexual in Food ASMR, they are just pure mixing, boiling, bubbling sounds. What harm does that have?
Food ASMR is the reason I fell in love with cooking and baking. To actually try out a recipe from a video, either I need to be convinced that it is super easy, or I need a soothing/calming voiceover, OR I need ASMR, or captions roasting me (NINO!!!). Or, all four(hehe).
Usually, traditional food/recipe videos have loud unrelated music or a voiceover with all the mixing, kneading, cooking sounds cut out of the video. With the rise of Food ASMR, people are starting to believe in the strength of food to speak and stand up for itself. So, it just feels much better and is a refreshing concept as well.
Also, Food ASMR portrays the roots and essence of cooking and baking, which is beautiful on its own.
So those are my reasons for loving Food ASMR. But I skip the Eating sounds though because they seem to get into my head.
